Welcome to New Wine Church Tain

New Wine Church Tain is situated at the Eastern Gate of the County of Ross and Cromarty (Ross-shire) while New Wine Church Lewis is located at the Western Gate.  We believe this is strategic in the implementation of the vision that we have been given.

 

At New Wine Church Tain, we are dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive space for all who seek to experience the presence of God. Our vision is to be agents of supernatural transformation in the lives of our members and the local community.

 

 

New Wine Church Tain offers a welcoming environment where you can experience lively and Spirit-led contemporary worship and real, relevant and radical teaching straight from the Bible.

 

At New Wine there is always an opportunity to receive prayer whatever your need might be. We believe that Jesus still heals the sick and brings freedom to the oppressed. Whether you have been a Christian for a long time, whether you are taking your first tentative steps as a new believer, or are just interested in finding out more about the claims of Christ, our goal is to help you see how relevant God and his word are to your everyday life.

 

Our vision is to reveal to God's people the reality of who they are, and everything that they can be in Christ Jesus. As we become established in relationship with our heavenly Father, we are equipped with a faith that is ready to face all of the challenges of living in the 21st century, and are enabled by the power of the Holy Spirit to live a radical life that revolutionises the humdrum of everyday existence and transforms it into an exciting and exhilarating experience.

 

Our Story

The vision of New Wine Church Tain is consistent with the vision of New Wine Church Stornoway, where we have our origins.  Whilst serving as a member of New Wine Church Stornoway's leadership team, our pastor, Marie Macleod, heard God calling her back to Tain.  This call was to pioneer a new church in the town that would not compete with, but rather complement, the existing church community in the place that she had called home many years before.  Marie thus came back to the burgh to follow this calling, while still serving as part of the Stornoway leadership team, as she continues to do today.

New Wine Church Tain held our first service on Sunday 20th January 2008 and we are still growing together in the Lord.

Tain has a very interesting story, as laid out on the town's official website:

“The Royal Burgh of Tain has a long and fascinating history. It was granted its first royal charter in 1066, making Tain Scotland’s oldest Royal Burgh, an event commemorated in 1966 with the opening of the Rose Garden by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. The 1066 charter, granted by King Malcolm III, confirmed Tain both as a sanctuary, where people could claim the protection of the church, and an “immunity”, whose resident merchants and traders were exempt from certain types of taxes. These important ideas carried through the centuries and led to the development of the town as it is today."

We believe that Tain is a strategic gateway to this part of the Highlands of Scotland and that it’s heritage, “As a sanctuary where people could receive the protection of the church,” is still very relevant today.
